Description:
Other Notes
Additive for ion-pair chromatography; Ion-pair reagent for TLC
Application
CTAB was used in preparing buffer solutions prepared during the determination of organic acids in port wine capillary zone electrophoresis using indirect UV detection with 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid.
General description
Hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) is a quaternary ammonium salt containing one long hydrophobic alkyl chain called amphiphile. The hydrophobic ions interact forming discrete aggregates possessing a hydrophobic core and a polar surface, called micelles in polar solution.
Hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) is one of the most studied cationic surfactant.
